This is a ubiquitous brewing device, also known as a “French Press”, which usually comprises a glass beaker. Hot water and ground coffee are added and then a permanent mesh filter is forced or “plunged” down through the coffee SLURRY so that the grinds are left in the bottom of the beaker and a clearer liquid can be poured off the top. Invented in 2005 by Aerobie president Alan Adler. Coffee is steeped inside the cylinder for between 10-50 seconds (depending on grind and preferred strength) and then forced through a filter, and into your mug, by pressing the plunger through the tube.
