About this coffee

A real crowd favourite due to it's sweet jam notes.

The Chorongi factory (wetmill) processes and markets coffee for the Mutheka Farmers Co-operative Society in the Central Province of Kenya, about 2km from the district’s capital, Nyeri.  The Co-op has a little over 1000 smallholder members, each with an average of 250 trees.

Chorongi is one of 7 wetmills that service the Co-op but one of the more popular as they offer agricultural training and support to the farmers, as well as advances for school fees and emergencies. The farmers grow a mix of SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11 varieties on the slopes of nearby Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare mountain range and deliver sorted cherry to the mill where it is traditionally wet processed and sun-dried on raised beds.
